NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Two people were killed and three others were hurt in a crash in south Nashville overnight.

Metro police said the crash happened between a sedan and a pickup truck just before 1 a.m. Sunday at Bell Road and Brookview Estates Drive. A preliminary report states the truck crossed into the car's path at a high speed, resulting in a head-on collision.

The two people in the sedan, 21-year-old Dalton Williams and 25-year-old Samantha Peevyhouse, died at the scene. Both were wearing seatbelts.

Truck driver Jose Damaso-Hernandez, 23, and passenger Sadia Bonilla-Gomez, 21, were critically injured. A 5-year-old passenger sustained minor injuries. All three were taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Police are testing Hernandez's blood for alcohol content.
