Man Shot Near Popular East Nashville Restaurants

A man has been fighting to stay alive after he was shot during an attempted robbery in a popular tourist destination.

Around 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, A 57-year-old man was shot right outside of his car at the corner of McFerrin Avenue and West Eastland Avenue in East Nashville. 

The victim's identity was not released, but police said he carried Wisconsin identification. 

He was rushed the the hospital in critical condition. As of 3:30 p.m., he was in surgery as doctors worked to save his life. He is expected to recover.

According to police, the victim had just parked his car when a gray four-door Dodge Avenger with two women inside pulled up. The passenger of the Avenger reportedly got out and demanded the victim’s belongings.

At some point during the altercation, the victim was shot in the upper torso.

Police worked with nearby businesses to obtain surveillance video. The robbers were described as women driving a grey/silver Dodge Avenger.

Later, Wednesday night, officers stopped a 23-year-old woman on Felicia Street, who was driving the Avenger. She was detained and placed under investigation.  A pistol was also recovered.
