According to the National Retail Federation, Americans will spend $6.9 billion this year to celebrate Halloween, per a recent survey.
While the average American will spend $74 on Halloween related expenses in 2015, that figure is down from the average of $77 spent by Americans last year.
Of the $6.9 billion, $2.5 billion will be spent on costumes. Nearly $1.2 billion will be spent on adult costumes, $950 million on children costumes and $350 million will be spent on costumes for pets.
Sixty-eight million Americans are expected to dress up for Halloween, along with 20 millions pets, per the NRF.
Americans are expected to spend an average of $27 per person on Halloween candy, for a total of $2.1 billion nationally.

“After a long summer, consumers are eager to embrace fall and all of the celebrations that come with it,” NRF president and CEO Matthew Shay said. “We expect those celebrating Halloween this year will look for several different activities to do with their family and friends. Consumers are ready to take advantage of promotions on candy, decorations and costumes, and retailers are ready to serve them.”
