I always knew that the breakfast and biscuits at Nashville’s iconic Loveless Café had people coming back every day, but there is one specialty they serve that had to make my list of Music City Musts! I’ve never heard of anything like this anywhere else – and neither has their famed Loveless Pitmaster, George Harvell! He introduced me to something extra special - his Watermelon Ribs.
Three words that come to mind are tender, flavorful, and delicious. Harvell says he got the idea while working as a Chef on a movie set one summer day. The ribs are one-of-a-kind! They serve them at Loveless every Thursday as the daily special.
The whole process takes two-days! Harvell takes St. Louis cut spare ribs, seasons graciously, cooks for 4 hours and then slathers them in Loveless Café’s own BBQ sauce. Finally the MVP of this dish is added.
He throws in chunks of watermelon, and slow roasts in the oven for a few more hours.
His advice when eating? Just go for it! That’s exactly what I did! If you’re someone who never liked ribs before, I challenge you to give these a try! You will be singing a different tune – after you wipe your face off that is! If you ever really want to have some of the best wet ribs that you’ll ever eat, come to the Loveless Café on a Thursday and try Watermelon Ribs. Check them out at https://www.lovelesscafe.com/
