Austin Pollack joined the NewsChannel 5 team as a multimedia journalist in November 2023.
Prior to coming to Nashville, Austin worked for our sister station WLEX in Lexington, Kentucky. During his two and a half years there, Austin was honored with five Ohio Valley Regional Emmy nominations. He was named the multimedia journalist Regional Emmy winner for his work in 2023. He finished as runner-up for top multimedia journalist by the Kentucky Broadcasters Association for his work in 2022.
While at WLEX, Austin covered stories of lost photos being sent back to families in western Kentucky after the devastating tornadoes in 2021. He also covered two Kentucky Derbys, including the long-shot Rich Strike winning the 2021 Derby at 80-1 odds. He quickly became a lover of bourbon and horses!
Austin also spent time as a morning and noon anchor at WITN in Greenville, North Carolina and started his career at WDTV in Bridgeport, West Virginia.
Originally wanting to pursue a career in baseball, Austin quickly realized he wasn't good enough to play beyond high school. He feels it was tough to accomplish at a whopping 5'7".
Prior to starting in news, he was the play-by-play broadcaster for a minor league affiliate of the Cleveland Guardians. He also spent a summer as a broadcaster in the Alaska Baseball League.
Born in Boston and a graduate of the Newhouse School at Syracuse University, Austin enjoys cooking, traveling, and dogs. You will likely see him exploring downtown Nashville with an iced coffee in his hand.
