Woman Skips TSA Lines, Boards Plane At BNA

A woman has been arrested after police said she boarded a plane without a ticket, identification or passing through security.

On Thursday, Nashville police report Naja Haynes skipped TSA checkpoints, walked into a terminal and boarded a Delta plane. Haynes was in a seat by the time airport officials questioned her.

Police report Haynes refused to give her information to a gate agent who then called police. When officers asked for her identification, Haynes allegedly said, "My name and faith is my ID."

As they tried to arrest her, authorities said Haynes started fighting with an officer.

Passengers at the airport Monday said they were shocked this could happen.

"It's terrifying, especially whenever you have a child that could have been on that plane because you never know," Kristy Baron said.

Haynes did not have any weapons on her but has been arrested and is facing two misdemeanor charges.

"The fact that one person can just slip through is a little shocking because you see the presence, the illusion of security," passenger Julian Messina said.

NewsChannel 5 reached out to the Transportation Security Administration who said one officer was suspended and eventually resigned.

“TSA officials at Nashville International Airport immediately initiated an inquiry into the incident. An employee was placed on non-screening duty pending final determination of the inquiry, but has since resigned. TSA is taking this incident seriously and will retrain employees as necessary to ensure compliance with standard operating procedure."

An attorney for Haynes decline to comment. She will be in court later this week.
