SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WTVF) — A massive fire at an auto repair shop in downtown Springfield has closed several streets.
The call came in at 6:30 a.m. Thursday at B & J Automotive on Main Street. It's unclear what caused the fire.
Assistant City Manager Ryan Martin said an arson investigation will be conducted, which is standard for this type of fire. He said they're not aware of any hazardous materials in the building.

The following streets will be closed throughout the day:
- Central Avenue from Batts Boulevard to Cheatham Street
- South Main Street from 15th Avenue to Central Avenue
- Batts Boulevard from 15th Avenue to Central Avenue
The Springfield Electric Department has also turned off power to some customers to help minimize the fire risk. People have been asked to avoid the area.
The size of the blaze also prompted a response from multiple agencies, including crews in Orlinda and Greenbrier. Firefighters contained the blaze and prevented it from spreading to nearby businesses.
The building is a total loss.
