The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has issued a warning for a cougar that was spotted in Tennessee.
TWRA officials said they have verified a report of one being spotted in Humphreys County caught on a trail camera last week.
They said they were working to verify three more sightings, and believe the animals were beginning to expand into the Middle Tennessee area.
“If you should come across one, give it ground. Let it go its way and you go your way, okay. They are pretty big animals. They don’t seem to be aggressive most of the time to human beings, but they are big and they could hurt you if you got into the situation,” said Doug Markham with the TWRA.
Markham said they have received calls of cougars from all over Tennessee since the late 80's, but were never able to verify the sightings until now.
