A teen was found dead in a field in Brentwood around 7a.m. on Sunday.

Brentwood Police officers found 16-year-old Lucas Davis in a field behind a home on the 9000 block of Old Smyrna Road unresponsive.

Residents who didn't want to be identified said they heard a group camping or partying behind their neighbor's home. Brentwood Police are investigating the incident. No criminal charges have been filed at this time. An autopsy was done on Monday and the results are pending.

Students took to social media to mourn. The Brentwood High School student section tweeted, "Truly at a loss for words today, Brentwood lost a legend who had the biggest heart around and truly loved others. Look out for us and fly high 74."

Lucas Davis was number 74 on the football team. They played Father Ryan High School for homecoming on Friday night.

Another student tweeted, "You were like a second brother to me and I cherish every moment we had together. You always put others first even if it brought you sorrow and it's hard to imagine life without you. Words cannot describe how much I love you."

The Williamson County Schools superintendent said, "Many heavy hearts in WCS today. Lifting up all our families, friends and employees impacted."

Grief counselors were at Brentwood High School on Monday to help students during this difficult time.

Brentwood High School Principal Kevin Keidel released the following statement:

"Our thoughts are with the Davis family during this difficult time. Lucas always had a smile on his face, and his laugh was infectious. He brought light to any room that he entered. Lucas was an excellent student and a talented athlete.  He was loved by the Brentwood High student body and staff, and he will be missed by us all. We will have additional counselors at school Monday for students and staff."

A gofundme page was created to help Davis' family.
