Firefighters have responded to a large fire on the campus property of Highland Academy in Sumner County.

Officials with the Sumner County Emergency Management Agency said an about 6,000 - 7,000 sq. ft. maintenance facility was on fire.

Crews responded around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday to the building behind Highland Academy near a nursing home.

Crews got the fire under control, but it burned for about a couple hours, and officials said the building was destroyed. No injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire was unknown. Severe storms did hit the area that afternoon and evening, but there were no lightning strikes reported in the area at the time.
