Shooting Causes Crash, Closes I-40E

Interstate 40 East in Nashville was shut down at Charlotte Avenue after a shooting caused a crash.

Metro Nashville Police officers responded to the interstate around 5:15 Tuesday evening.

According to officials, the victim had gotten into an altercation with a man at the Wendy's on Jefferson Street. The man allegedly followed the victim onto I-40 and fired shots while traveling down the interstate.

The suspect left the scene. He is said to be driving a white Nissan Altima.

Officials said the shooting caused a single-vehicle crash on the interstate.

The victim was not injured by gunfire but suffered minor injuries in the crash.

I-40 East was shut down for a short time.  All lanes are now back open.
