Sky 5 flew over the area and showed what appeared to be several units gutted by the flames.
"I was smelling smoke while I was brushing my teeth, but I didn't know what it was. I walked around the house and nothing was on fire in the house, so I thought it was okay but when they started banging on the door and I went outside I seen it," said Ezaivur Blanchett.
Blanchett says his neighbor alerted him that the building was on fire, he was able to run out with just his boxers on and a blanket.
NFD is working with the property management and American Red Cross to provide resources to the impacted families. The fire department urges everyone to make heating safety a top priority as the temperatures continue to stay low. Also, make an escape plan for your home and practice the plan.
