Eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 were forced shut in Cheatham County after a tractor trailer broke out in flames.
The fire happened around noon Tuesday at mile marker 187, about a mile west of the exit for Kingston Springs.
Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said the truck driver heard a loud pop and pulled over to investigate. That was when he told investigators the fire started.
The eastbound lanes were shut down for a short time while crews put out the flames. One lane was blocked on the westbound side.
No one was injured in the fire.
The semi was not hauling any cargo.
The incident caused delays for several drivers going through the area.
