Metro Nashville Police officers have been investigating a shooting at an East Nashville restaurant.

The shooting happened at Batter'd and Fried in East Nashville at 1008 Woodland Street on Tuesday night.

Police said an argument broke out between two men inside the restaurant. One of the men was allegedly knocked to the ground, and that's when a friend of his shot the man who pushed him.

Authorities confirmed 36-year-old James Fletcher was shot in the left thigh. Surveillance video showed Fletcher punching one of the two men prior to the shooting before the fight continued off camera.

Fletcher was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with a non-life threatening gunshot wound. Authorities said he was not cooperating with officials.

They added he has a lengthy arrest history. Fletcher has currently been free on a $45,000 bond regarding an arrest on May 1 on felony marijuana and gun charges.

A witness said they saw one of the other men put a pistol in his waistband as he fled from the restaurant.

The investigation remained ongoing. No arrests had been made.
