One lane of Interstate 40 West in Mt. Juliet was blocked for a short time after driver hit a parked Mt. Juliet police patrol car.
According to officials with the police department an unoccupied patrol vehicle was hit while officers and firefighters were on the scene of a pickup truck bed fire on Interstate 40 West.
It happened around 5 p.m. Four police vehicles and one fire engine responded to the truck fire.
One of the officers had just gotten out of his patrol car and was walking toward the truck when his car was hit by an out-of-control car.
