A truck hauling molten aluminum has overturned in Mt. Pleasant causing a small fire.

It happened at Highway 243 and highway 43 around 8 p.m. Monday.

It wasn't clear how the rollover happened but the molten aluminum spilled out of the truck and caused a fire that was quickly put out.

Officials with the Mt. Pleasant Police Department said the driver got out safely and was not injured. No other vehicles were involved.

There was also no danger to the nearby homes.

The truck has since been revoved from the scene. Tennessee Department Of Transportation has prepared to re-pave the road Tuesday morning.

In the meantime a cleaning crew worked to scrape the road. The area was closed and expected to reopen Tuesday morning.
