Man found dead in Nashville house fire

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A man was found dead overnight after Nashville firefighters responded to the scene of a house fire.

The incident was reported by a neighbor around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 5500 block of Old Hickory Boulevard.

Firefighters were called to the scene after a passerby noticed smoke and flames coming from the home. They found the victim lying in a hallway of the home. The man died at the scene. He was tentatively identified as 72-year-old Roy Reed.

Crews also had to deal with freezing conditions and ammunition firing inside the home.

The blaze took hours to extinguish.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is continuing to investigate the cause of the blaze, and the Medical Examiner’s Office is working to make positive identification.
