Officials Say 37 Cats Killed In Knoxville House Fire

Posted

Authorities say 37 cats have died in a house fire in Knoxville.

Knoxville Fire Department Capt. D.J. Corcoran said in a news release that firefighters who responded to the fire just after midnight found two residents safely out of the burning home and three cats suffering from smoke inhalation.

Firefighters searched for the remaining cats, but they were unable to save any. Corcoran says the three cats that were treated with oxygen are doing well.

Fire crews say the flames appear to have started in a rear bedroom, but the exact cause was not immediately known.
