A primetime special, which aired September 2nd, takes a look back at NewsChannel 5's investigation of the controversial testing and grading practices inside some Metro Nashville schools.
The one-hour "Making the Grade" special examines how some struggling Nashville high schools excluded certain students from critical tests to keep them from pulling down the schools' test scores.
It also reviews how some schools increased their graduation rates by creating their own grading system and by pressuring teachers to change failing grades to passing.
NewsChannel 5's investigation recently prompted the Tennessee State Board of Education to adopt new rules to curtail some of those practices.
