A man was arrested Saturday for doing more than $1,000 worth of damage to both the Christ The King Church and school in 12 South with a permanent marker.

According to affidavits, Robert Hugh Woody was arrested on vandalism and burglary charges after police caught him on Belmont Boulevard near the church. Police said he had a black Sharpie clipped to his clothes at the time of the arrest.

Around 10:20 a.m. Saturday, Woody allegedly walked into the church and marked up everything he could find including walls, statues, doors, and furniture. He also reportedly did the same thing to the school before stealing a vase and photo from the school property which had been marked up "beyond repair."

Woody was booked into jail on a $5,000 bond.
