An investigation got underway overnight after three shooting suspects crashed their car during a high-speed chase with police on Interstate 440. One suspect was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
The suspects crashed their vehicle around 2:15 Wednesday morning into a telephone pole and a rock wall at an apartment complex on Woodlawn Drive and 21st Avenue South – not far from Hillsboro Village.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said the black sedan was linked to a drive-by double shooting late Tuesday night on Claiborne Street at the J.C. Napier Homes.
Two people were shot, including one person who is in critical but stable condition. The second victim was listed in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The chase began Wednesday morning when police noticed the same black sedan driving slowly down Claiborne Street. Police said it appeared they were attempting to carry out another crime.
Officers tried to initiate a traffic stop but the suspects took off on Interstate 40 before getting off on Interstate 440 West.
The suspects exited on 21st Avenue South, where they crashed into the pole and a rock barrier. Police said all three suspects ran away, but one was arrested on the scene.
Police continue to search the neighborhood for the other two shooting suspects.
Nashville Electric Service officials estimated 250 people were without power when the suspects first crashed.
No officers were injured in the chase.
NewsChannel 5 is working to get a better description of the suspects who are on the run.
