A teenager has been arrested after he allegedly tried to rob a trooper with the Tennessee Highway Patrol.
According to an affidavit from Metro police, an off-duty THP officer agreed to meet with 18-year-old Danterius Lindsey to sell him a gun.
Police said the two met at the Inglewood Branch Library on Sunday night.
When they agreed Lindsey would buy the gun, investigators said the teen pulled out a revolver from his car and pointed it at the officer.
In return, the official pulled out his off-duty gun and stopped Lindsey before he ran away. Officers responded and found the trooper holding the suspect on the ground at gunpoint.
Lindsey reportedly did not have a valid gun carry permit.
He was booked into the Metro jail on charges of robbery and illegal purchase of a weapon. Lindsey was held on a $50,000 bond.
