Police have asked the public’s help in locating a suspect wanted in connection with a fatal hit-and-run in Rutherford County.
The crash happened shortly before 11 p.m. Sunday in the area of South Lowry Street at the Nissan Boulevard overpass in Smyrna.
Officials with the Smyrna Police Department said 29-year-old Elise Denton, of Nashville, was killed when a pickup truck struck the back of her Honda scooter.
Denton was thrown from the scooter and struck by another vehicle.
The scooter was dragged by the truck for ¼ mile to Stewart Drive, at which point the truck left the roadway and struck an embankment.
Police said the driver pried the scooter from the truck and left the scene.
Denton was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center for treatment and was pronounced deceased shortly after arrival.
The suspect vehicle was believed to be a dark grey or pewter colored Chevrolet or GMC pickup truck with front-end damage and could be missing a driver-side headlight.
White paint transfer from the scooter may also be present.
