A woman was critically injured after being struck by a bus near Music City Central in downtown Nashville.
The incident happened at 6:40 a.m. Friday at the bus station located on Charlotte Avenue.
Officials with Metro Nashville Police said 64-year-old Vicki Jean Pillow, of Murfreesboro, had just been dropped off at 5th Avenue and Charlotte Avenue when she was struck by the same bus.
Police said Pillow stepped into the bus' path as she tried to cross 5th Avenue. The bus had a green light as it moved to cross Charlotte Avenue.
The driver, unaware that he'd hit anyone, stopped when he heard people on the street screaming to get his attention. Pillow was pinned underneath the bus after being dragged for a short distance.

Police said she was in the crosswalk but had the "don't cross" signal at the time - making it the contributing factor in the collision.
She was taken to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries, although the extent of the her injuries was not available.
A significant portion of the area was blocked while police investigated. Crime scene tape was set up at the intersection of 5th Avenue.
