Police said they’re searching for a suspect they claimed senselessly shot and killed a Krispy Kreme delivery driver.
The incident began around 1:56 a.m. Sunday at the Mapco in the 400 block of Donelson Pike.
Authorities said the suspect entered the store and demanded money from the clerk at gunpoint. Reports confirmed he took cash from the register.
However, when the gunman fled from the store, he then allegedly shot the delivery driver, identified as 61-year-old Al Baker, who was sitting inside his delivery truck outside of the store.
Officials said Baker had just arrived at the store. The suspect allegedly fired shots at him for no apparent reason.
Baker attempted to drive southbound on Donelson Pike. He then turned into the Walgreens in the 500 block of Donelson Pike where he came to a stop and rolled into the front entrance column.
Authorities confirmed Baker died at the scene.
