The suspect, who apparently lost the tip of a finger during a break-in at a south Nashville beauty supply store has been arrested.

The incident happened around 1:30 a.m. Friday at Sue's Fashions on Lafayette Street. An anonymous person apparently called police to report a burglary.

Officials with Metro police said someone broke one window, but was unable to crawl through. Someone also broke into a second window, but police were unsure if the suspect was able to crawl into the building.

Officers responded to the scene and saw the suspect fleeing the area. A foot pursuit ensued but they lost track of him near the Tony Sudekum Apartments.

A portion of a finger was found at the scene.

Metro police later identified 33-year-old Steven Spivey as a suspect in overnight burglaries at Subway and this incident. He was taken into custody around 4:30 a.m.

Spivey was also reported to have stolen from a Subway on Murfreesboro Pike, where he used to work the night before. Witnesses said he stole more than $1,500 from the business.

He was held in lieu of $42,000 bond on one count of burglary, one count of vandalism and two counts of theft.  He was convicted in April 2014 of aggravated burglary for which he received a two-year sentence.
