Family and friends of a woman shot and killed held an emotional vigil where she was found.

Vian Ahmed Kasim, age 31, was found shot to death in the driver seat of a Kia at Swiss Ridge Apartments on Swiss Avenue in south Nashville before 8 a.m. on Friday.

Her family said they do not know much about the investigation but pleaded for anyone, even the killer, to come forward.

"You hurt not just us but everyone. Please come forward," Vian's brother, Sarbast Kasim, told NewsChannel 5. "We need justice. We're not going to stop until we get that justice served."

Her family traveled from Minnesota to come together on Sunday after learning about the news. They were joined with several of Vian's friends she made over the nearly ten years of living in Nashville.

Vian's family and friends also released balloons to remember her. Immediately, the trembling sorrow echoed through the parking lot as dozens of her loved ones arrived.

"She was loving. She liked to help everyone. She cared about everyone. She liked to make jokes and have fun and make everyone happy," Fatima Zara, a family friend, said to describe Vian.

Vian was known to sing and light up every room that she stepped into. She had worked at a restaurant and sold phones, according to her family.

"It's not right and didn't deserve it at all. She was too sweet of a person," Shinique Persons tearfully told NewsChannel 5.

The vehicle that she was found in was impounded for processing.

Detectives have been pursuing some leads and determining why Kasim was at the complex.

Police and family have urged anyone with information to make an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
