Power crews were called to the scene of an early morning crash involving a DUI charge after a driver struck a utility pole before fleeing the area.

Crews with the Nashville Electric Service responded to an area along Spence Lane in Nashville early Wednesday morning.

Metro Nashville Police officials said the driver, identified as Stephen C. Prchal, crashed into a fire hydrant and power pole, knocking out electricity for some in the area.

Prchal also plowed through someone’s yard before fleeing the scene.

The home nearest to the pole was damaged because its utility lines were ripped from it on impact.

Officers were able to follow a fluid trail from the crash scene to Prchal's home where he was found inside.

Prchal told police he has been driving and had damage to his car. He added he could have hit something, but said the damage wasn't as bad as it was when he left the bar.

A headlight from Prchal's vehicle was found at the crash scene.

Prchal showed multiple indicators of being impaired when police tested him, and he agreed to have his blood drawn.

He was arrested and charged with his third offense of driving under the influence, as well as leaving the scene of an accident with damages over $500.

Prchal's bond was set at $8,500.
