The third annual Youth Gun Violence Day event took place at Revelation Funeral Home.

The event Saturday on Buchanan Street addressed youth gun violence in hopes of encouraging teens to stay out of trouble, especially during the summer.

“We lost a lot of lives last year, and I don't want a repeat, so I'm going to do whatever I can to make sure kids engage in something positive this summer,” Earl Jordan said.

According to statistics from Tennessee.gov, 20 teenagers were shot in the state in 2015, and 19 of them passed away.

Those statistics showed 13 youths lost their lives to gun violence in Nashville.
