Three people have been arrested after trying to rob an 88-year-old man at gunpoint.

The incident began when someone called officials about a suspicious car in the 3900 block of Clarksville Pike on Thursday afternoon.

Detectives were able to spot the silver Hyundai Sonata and follow it on Clarksville Pike to Westport Drive.

Three people were in the car. On Westport Drive, 18-year-old Tony Scoggin and 18-year-old Octavious Mannie got out of the car and approached the 88-year-old victim while he was at his mailbox.

Officials said the two attempted to rob him at gunpoint, but he did not have anything of value on him at the time.

Both Scoggin and Mannie got back into the car where 19-year-old Derrick Archibald, Jr. had been waiting.

That’s when authorities moved in and arrested the three men.

Reports stated a .380 semi-automatic pistol was recovered from the suspects’ car.

Scoggin, Mannie, and Archibald were booked into jail on charges of attempted robbery. They were each being held in lieu of a $250,000 bond.
