Two people and their three dogs were displaced from their home when it went up in flames.
The fire started at a home on Gilmore Crossing Lane in Northwest Nashville around 11 a.m. Sunday.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames shooting from the roof of the house. No one was inside at the time.
There was quite a bit of damage to the roof and second floor of the house, but firefighters worked quickly to save what they could.
“Fire personnel done a great job knocking this fire down and getting it under control,” said Captain Roy Johnson with the Nashville Fire Department. “No injuries with the fire personnel, and right now it's under investigation by the Fire Marshal's office.”
The cause of the fire was still unknown. The American Red Cross has been assisting the homeowner.
