One person was severely burned in a single-vehicle crash in Murfreesboro.
The wreck happened around 1:45 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 24 at Medical Center Parkway.
The driver, whose identity was not released, allegedly made contact with a metal light pole during the crash.
The car then became fully engulfed in flames.
The victim was taken to Saint Thomas Rutherford hospital where he awaited LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Due to severe burns on the lower half of his body, he was taken to Vanderbilt Burn Center.
According to reports, magnesium explosions caused by the water and magnesium reacting as firefighters fought the flames made the fight more difficult.
The crash remained under investigation.
