Traffic was backed up for two to three miles on I-65 after the driver of a tractor trailer lost control and slammed into the median.

The crash happened Tuesday about 11:40 a.m. in southbound lanes of Interstate 65 just before the Trinity Lane exit and after the I-65/I-24 merge.

Details about what led to the crash were not available. It was not clear if any other vehicles were involved, or if there were any injuries.

The truck was blocking the left two lanes.

Both eastbound Interstate 24 and southbound Interstate 65 were congested as drivers tried to get around the wreckage.

Crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation initially estimated the roadway would be clear by 12:40 p.m.

As of 12:30 p.m., the tractor trailer had not been moved.
