The Nashville Fraternal Order of Police held a press conference in response to District Attorney Glenn Funk's announcement involving the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation in the fatal officer-involved shooting of Jocques Clemmons.
On Thursday, Funk requested that the TBI conduct their own separate investigation into the shooting. He also announced a new policy that would call for the TBI to investigate all officer-involved use of force deaths.
officer-involved shootings would be reviewed on a case by case basis and may be referred to the TBI.
FOP officials said in their press conference later that night they welcome the TBI's investigation. However, they were certain the agency would come to the same conclusion that the Metro Nashville Police Department would.
They "firmly believed" the officer's actions were justified, and that "he reacted as any police officer would, if placed in the same situation."
Officials said they understood the community's concern and need for a neutral third party.
