WHITE HOUSE, Tenn. (WTVF) — The White House community lost a piece of history overnight when fire destroyed the town's American Legion building.

Fire officials said they got the call around 10 p.m. Wednesday. A commander smelled smoke coming from the area and saw the building engulfed in flames.

No injuries were reported.

The building has been very significant to the community throughout its history.

It’s been open since World War II and was renovated just a couple of years back. It was also used for weddings, birthdays and different community events.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
