A family of three in Davidson County was able to escape their burning home when someone woke up and smelled smoke.
The blaze was reported shortly after 3 a.m. Friday at a home along Central Pike in Hermitage.
Fire officials said the family of three had just gone to bed, when the father woke up and smelled smoke.
He helped get everyone out of the house.
The residence sustained heavy damage but no one was hurt. Hours later, crews were called back out to the home after the blaze rekindled.
