CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A deadly crash shut down a portion of eastbound Interstate 24 in Clarksville for several hours over the weekend.

Tennessee Highway Patrol said a tractor-trailer went off the roadway near mile marker 8.8 and rolled down an embankment Saturday night. Eastbound lanes from exit 8 through exit 11 were closed until Sunday morning.

There were two people inside the tractor-trailer, which was hauling frozen poultry. THP said the driver, identified as 32-year-old Noor Shakul, died as a result of the crash. The passenger was also hurt, but details on their injuries are not yet known.
