One person was injured in a controlled burn that grew out of control and destroyed a tractor and barn in Franklin.

Officers and firefighters closed Franklin Road in Franklin while responding to the fire in the 300 block. The road was closed from Mack Hatcher to South Berry's chapel.

According to fire officials, a worker was burning a brush pile but noticed it had gotten out of control when noticed that it had jumped from the pile to a tractor.

The worker tried to put out the flames that had engulfed nearby trees, but the fire quickly jumped to a 50-year-old barn on the property.

Even with more efforts to put out the flames, the area's dry conditions and high winds forced the flames to spread out of control and injured the worker.

He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Officials said the victim had been on the property when the call first went out to emergency crews around 3 p.m. Wednesday.
