Crews were called to a large condo fire on Center Hill Lake in DeKalb County. No injuries were immediately reported.

The incident was reported Monday morning at a complex located off Dale Ridge Road in Smithville.

"I thought Oh my gosh. I looked up and saw flames and my neighbor knocked on my door.  I went out and saw that," said resident John Moffett.

The affected building was said to be in an area just above the Center Hill Lake boat dock.

The building was evacuated, but no injuries have been confirmed.

Despite the remote location on Dale Ridge Road, six engines and three tanker trucks were on scene in a matter of minutes. Yet, the hydrants on scene have small low pressure lines.

"We're limited in this area by water supply," said Dekalb County Fire Chief Donny Green.

The fire engulfed several units on a third floor, which forced Green to find another water supply.

"We have learned to get water out of the lake and shuttle it to the scene," said Green.

Chief Green thinks lightning from a massive storm overnight sparked it.

"We feel confident that could be a possibility," said Green.

Firefighters said most of the upper level of the condo unit is a total loss, but the lower level units just suffered smoke and water damage.
