NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Nashville Fire crews battled a massive house fire in the Old Hickory area Sunday.

Crews responded to the 200 block of Ashawn Boulevard around 4 p.m. NFD officials say upon arrival, they saw smoke coming from the house.

One resident already outside told firefighters a person was trapped inside. Crews found the person and got them out. They were transported to Vanderbilt Hospital, and their their current condition is unknown.

Crews were on scene for over 5 hours, working to identify hot spots and extinguish the fire, which they say had gotten into the walls of the home.

Salt trucks were brought in because of water-runoff creating icy roads.
