A Brentwood woman was awoken early Thursday morning to a call from her alarm company reporting her home was on fire.
The fire started in the ceiling and roof area of the home at about 1:30a.m. in the 5100 block of Fountainhead Drive in Brentwood.
Investigators said the homeowner's alarm company called to report its alarms were detecting a fire. However, the smoke detectors hadn't gone off in the home.
Fire officials at the scene said it's not uncommon for smoke detectors to not be activated in the case of ceiling fires, because the smoke goes up and out of the home.
All of the people in the home got out safely.
There was extensive damage to the roof of the home.
Investigators are now working to figure out what caused the fire.
