NASHVILLE, Tenn. — A 5-year-old boy drowned during a family get-together in Nashville Saturday night.

Metro police said the investigation by Youth Services shows that A'Regis Scales was attending the family get-together at his grandmother's house, along with multiple other children and adults.

The children were playing outside, running back and forth between a hot tub and pool. When the grandmother came outside looking for A'Regis, he was found submerged near the shallow end of the pool.

A'Regis was quickly pulled out of the pool as CPR efforts were begun.

Officers responded to a call at the home just before 6 p.m. There, they found A'Regis Scales and attempted to assist in reviving him.

A'Regis was rushed to Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to Metro police, the drowning appears to be accidental.
