A Clarksville 3-year-old boy has died after accidentally shooting himself in the face.
It happened at a home on Samantha Lane in Clarksville around 5:26 p.m.
It was unclear exactly how the shooting occurred, but officials said the child was shot by a handgun and was transported to Tennova Medical Center.
Clarksville fire crews and police responded to the call.
The boy and his parents do not live at the home. Police said they were visiting from Fort Riley Kansas, and the gun that the boy shot himself with belonged to the homeowner.
Officials with Clarksville Police urged gun owners to make sure their guns are locked away when children are around so that tragedies like this don't happen.
