ERIN, Tenn. (WTVF) — A person was killed and 11 others were displaced after to an apartment fire Monday in Erin.

The Erin Fire Department responded to the fire on Shamrock Drive around 10 p.m.

Firefighters learned that a person was trapped inside but officials said firefighters couldn't get inside due to the heavy fire conditions at the apartment's front door.

Once firefighters were able to knock down some of the flames, they searched the apartment, but the occupant had died.

Officials said about 11 other residents of the apartment building were displaced due to heavy smoke damage and structural deficiencies, caused by the fire.
