A manhunt got underway in Nashville after a gunman allegedly stole a Corvette, shot the car's owner and then set the sports car on fire.
Officials with Metro Nashville police said the victim, a 40-year-old man, left his Corvette running and unattended when he went into a store on D.B. Todd Boulevard.
At that point, the suspect got in the car and drove off.
The victim convinced another person to let him use their car to follow the Corvette to Rosa Parks Boulevard and Interstate 65.
According to police, there was a confrontation at a red light at which point the suspect pulled out a gun and fired multiple shots at the victim – hitting him at least once in the upper thigh.
The gunman sped off in the stolen Corvette. Fire department crews found the vehicle moments later fully engulfed in flames.
Detectives believed the carjacker set the car on fire at 14th and Jennings before leaving the scene.
The victim was taken Vanderbilt University Medical Center with serious injuries.
